Cranston Home and Housing Market
Cranston is a beautifully master planned community in the southeast of Calgary. It is located southwest of the intersection where Deerfoot Trail and Stoney Trail meet in the south of Calgary, Alberta. The community boasts a wide variety of single family and mutli-family residential properties as well of a good mix of commercial properties to service those in the community. The Home Owner's Association runs Century Hall, which is the recreation facilities run by the Cranston Resident's Association. To the east of Cranston runs Deerfoot Trail, to the north is Stoney Trail. Cranston is well situated to greenspace, parkland, and the Bow River and the southern end of Fish Creek Park for ample recreational opportunities to the west and south of the community. The community is in Ward 12 of Calgary's municipal boundaries.
The total population of Cranston is about 22,000 people. The first homes were built in 2000 in the northern portion of the community. With the completion of homes, houses, and condos on the ridge in Cranston, construction of new homes has moved to the river valley, known as Riverstone, and there are new home builders building single family detached homes adjacent to the Bow River.
Commuting within Cranston is easy with large boulevards and roadways throughout the community. Access points in and out of the community include on the east side by way of Seton Boulevard / Cranston Avenue, 212 Avenue SE, and north via Cranston Boulevard SE.
Cranston has varied residential living choices from condos, townhomes, townhouses, semi-detached, detached, family homes, front garage to laned homes. Because there is no through east to west road because of the Bow River, the community has very little traffic infiltrating the community unless it is residents or visitors.
Cranston Local and Neighbourhood Amenities
Cranston has everything you need within the community along with the expansive commercial district found a stone's throw away in Seton. The Berwick Pub is a popular gathering and meeting point for residents and those in nearby communities with the great finishing, food, beverage, and service at the establishment. Starbucks can be found at the Sobey's at the main commercial area in the southern mid portion of the community along Cranston Avenue. Good Earth is also a main gathering point for residents who are looking for their morning Joe. Coffee aside, there are gas stations, fast food, liquor stores, a vet, among many other neighborhood amenities within Cranston.
The Cranston Resident's Association has the following activities available to it's members at Century Hall: full sized gymnasium, 7 acre gated park, tennis courts, basketball courts, hockey rink, playground, and a splash park. Registration in various programs for members of all ages is also offered. Private events can be booked and held at Century Hall as well.
