Grande Prairie is the gateway city to Alaska. It is the last Costco stop before entering into northeastern BC and the start of mile zero on the Alaska Highway route at Dawson Creek. GP, as it's locally known, is a beautiful city with the centrally located Muskoseepi Park running through the heart of downtown. For the outdoor enthusiast, there is so much to do in and around GP with the big prairie found just outside of the city limits and also the mountains and waterfalls of British Columbia just a short drive away. GP is fed by four major industry which makes it more immune to the ups and downs of traditional small cities and towns in northern Alberta - forestry, transportation, agriculture, and oil/gas development. With long summer days and winters not much different than Edmonton, GP is a great place to raise a family and it has so many recreational opportunities within and around the city!
