Know Your OptionsCalgary has two school boards, the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) and the Calgary Catholic School District (CCSD). There are also a number of charter and private schools within Calgary. There are approximately 125,000 students who attend schools within the CBE with staff of about 14,000 in 246 schools total. At the CCSD, there are about 59,000 students throughout the 117 schools in Calgary. In Calgary, typical configurations are as follows: Elementary School grades K-6, Junior High grades 7-9, High School grades 10-12. Mahogany Schools
Mahogany, being one of the newer communities in Calgary, has only one built school - Divine Mercy. For the Catholic School Board the school progression for the Regular Program are as follows: K-6 Divine Mercy in Mahogany, (K-9) Monsignor Smith in Douglasdale, and (10-12) Bishop Grandin in Haysboro. For the Catholic School Board's French Immersion Program, the following pipeline is followed: (K-6) St. Cecilia in Acadia, (7-9) St. Matthews in Acadia, (10-12) Bishop Grandin in Haysboro. For students with the Calgary Board of Education's Regular Program, the following pathway is followed: (K-6) Riverbend School in Riverbend, (7-9) Sherwood School in Lynnwood, and (10-12) Henry Wisewood in Kelvin Grove. CBE's French Immersion students follow this path: (K-4) Sundance School in Sundance, (5-9) Fairview School in Fairview, (10-12) E.P. Scarlett High School in Canyon Meadows. For CBE Spanish Bilingual Program, the school to goto for K-5 is Eugene Coste School in Haysboro. Lake Bonavista School is CBE's Montessori Program school for Mahogany students.
